El Cid was co-founded in 1983 by Henry P. Terusa when he retired from ownership of a successful service station, which he ran with the help of his eight children. Hank developed at least 42 different Mexican seasoning blends and was moderately successful in selling them in small quantities to Knotts Berry Farm in Southern California. In 1996, he entered full-time retirement and dissolved the El Cid corporation. Henry’s family, including son Tim and daughter-in-law Christina, always looked forward to and loved eating all the fine dishes made with El Cid’s Seasoning Blends. In February of 2002, Christina and Tim decided that there was a market for the seasoning blends on a larger scale. They incorporated and “reopened” El Cid in order to share Hank’s love of Cooking the Authentic Mexican Way® with the rest of the world. There are currently six seasoning blends available, with more to come.
